Neterra goes optical to meet the challenge of Bulgaria’s burgeoning data traffic

Nokia Siemens Networks’ high-speed optical backbone to enhance Neterra’s data and multimedia transport services for corporate customers

Neterra Ltd., Bulgaria’s leading telecommunications operator, is launching an advanced fiber-optic transport solution from Nokia Siemens Networks to support the growing data national and international data traffic requirements of its corporate customers with reliable, cost effective services.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ optical network solution featuring the Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology, will support high transport speeds and capacity to allow Neterra to offer broadband Internet, Virtual Private Network (VPN) and data transport services to corporate customers and broadcast companies in Bulgaria. The project is to be completed by July 2008.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ DWDM network will provide Neterra with a reliable transport solution ensuring their customers enjoy the reliability of uninterrupted access to the Internet, corporate networks or online television services. This is also a highly flexible solution facilitating future upgrades to cope with growing demand and changing service requirements.

Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide Neterra with an advanced network management system for next generation optical networks (TMNS), as well as network implementation services.
