Android-powered HTC Lancaster handset to be available in US via AT&T in 3Q09

HTC (High Tech Computer) is expected to launch its third Android-powered smartphone, the HTC Lancaster, in cooperation with AT&T in the US market in the third quarter of this year, according to market sources in Taiwan.

AT&T will exclusively market the HTC Lancaster in the US for a period of six months, the sources noted.

The HTC Lancaster will be built on the Qualcomm MSM7225 platform, supporting 3.5G, HSDPA/HSUPA and AGPS standards. The smartphone will also come with a sliding-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3-megapixel camera, according to sources familiar with HTC's roadmap.

HTC is also expected to start shipping its HTC Magic smartphone and the second-generation G1 phone, the Bigfoot, to T-Mobile USA in the third and fourth quarter, respectively, the sources added.
