HTC revenues to gain a boost in 4Q on Google phone launch, says paper

The official launch of the first Google-powered Android phone by T-Mobile scheduled on September 23 in New York is expected to bring in a strong performance in revenues for High Tech Computer (HTC), which produces the Android phone, in the fourth quarter of this year, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

HTC CEO Peter Chou will be personally attend the product presentation now that T-Mobile has sent out invitations for the official announcement of the first Google phone, which is similar to HTC Dream as posted by some web sites, EDN noted.

Quoting sources at Taiwan-base securities houses, the paper said HTC's revenues are expected to hit a record high of NT$48.8 billion (US$1.52 billion) in the fourth quarter, with the figures for the whole year of 2008 to top NT$154.2 billion.
