8-megapixel Samsung W740 official

Sony Ericsson may have trumped all with its announcement of the 12-MP Idou, but back in Normalsville, eight-megapixel cam-phones are still the business, and Samsung's SCH-W740 is the latest one to go official. Well, at least in South Korea.

Like fellow top-of-the-line eight-meg blowers LG Renoir and Nokia N86, the W740 isn't just counting on an insanely high number of megapixel to pull it through - it's also got a Xenon flash, face detection, smile shutter scene modes, as well as T-DMB TV tuner (that's specially for mobiles), HSUPA for fast photo/video uploads and a 3.3-inch touch-screen. Engadget, who sniffed out the story, also reported an e-dictionary, great haptic feedback and a street price of 900,000 won (£453).
