ECS lands netbook order from FET; in talks for Nokia netbook, says paper

Taiwan-based Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) has recently gained orders from Taiwan-based telecom provider Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) to manufacture FET's own-brand netbooks, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report citing sources at the company. ECS is also in talks with Nokia for netbook orders, the paper added.

FET's branded netbooks are expected to start shipping in the second or third quarter this year with an initial volume of a few thousand units. The Nokia talks are expected to be settled later this quarter, said the paper.
