Published a new standard MMC 4.4

JEDEC Solid State Technology Association - an organization dedicated to the standardization of semiconductor technology, has published a new version of the standard JESD84-A44 MMC numbered 4.4. It includes several improvements, including doubling the productivity of the memory interface, a flexible sector management and improved security. Since the publication in 2006, the joint specification of JEDEC Solid State Technology Association and the MultiMediaCard Association, the standard MMC is used for a wide range of devices, custom electronics.

The new standard MMC 4.4 includes, as noted above, twice the data transfer rate compared with the previous version. The maximum speed now is 104 MB / s (previously it was in excess of 52 Mb / s), the new interface is backward-compatible. Additionally, MMC 4.4 provides a convenient system of government sectors, they can be configured to work in high-performance mode. And finally, the new standard provides better opportunities for information security, including blocking and secure erase. Feature Replay Protected Memory Block (RPMB) allows you to access certain areas of memory with the help of a hidden key, a Secure Erase & Secure Trim offers a complete "physical" erasure of data, excluding the possibility of its subsequent recovery.
