AMD's 40th Anniversary

May 1, 2009, marks AMD’s 40th anniversary. Formed by Jerry Sanders and seven co-founders in 1969, AMD is a company with a rich and colorful history. In the past 40 years, AMD has transformed from a second-source supplier that worked within the confines of other companies’ designs, to an innovator that has helped drive the market forward and kept competition alive and thriving in one of the most important technology sectors. AMD takes great pride in our role of igniting next-generation technology solutions, as well as our ability to see where customer and end-user needs are headed next and then collaborate with the industry accordingly.

We have captured these values in our Fusion business approach: a unique combination of integration, intimacy and impact. It's what got us here... and what we believe will sustain us in the years ahead. Giving Back
In our 40 years, users and enthusiasts the world over have been integral in the development and marketplace adoption of our product lines. We’ve always appreciated the feedback and wishes of our customers and end users, and during this anniversary year we’d like to celebrate by saying thanks. So we’re rolling out a series of contests that will take place over the coming months to give back to our dedicated fans, and let you show your AMD spirit. In total we’re giving away 80 prizes, and the winners will take home some of the most innovative products in the market today.

Video Contest
The first contest is for the AMD enthusiast community that has come to rely on AMD products for their bleeding-edge graphics and processing needs. We challenge you to create a brief video, up to 60 seconds in length, wishing AMD a Happy 40th Anniversary. Be creative! Show off your AMD-based rig. Use the power of your AMD-powered system to wow us with graphical wizardry. Tell us why you love AMD. Write a song about us! The only catch is that ALL videos must say “Happy 40th Anniversary AMD.” You can say it, sing it, paint it on a wall, whatever…just make sure it’s included. Want to stand apart from the crowd? Tell us why you'd want an ATI Radeon™ graphics card, what you'd do with it, or how AMD graphics have changed your life for the better. Otherwise, let your creativity flow. To enter, upload your video to YouTube and email the link to us at amdcontests@bitepr.com. Three “grand prize” winners will each receive a high-end ATI Radeon™ HD 4890 graphics card, which has been called a “screamingly-good overclocker”* and “decidedly evolutionary in nature.” 40 “first place” winners (get it? 40?) will each receive an ATI Radeon 4650 graphics card, known for “excellent performance…given low energy consumption and prices.” We’ll be linking to our favorite videos from the AMD Unprocessed YouTube Channel, so check in to see if we’ve pulled out your video to highlight.

Photo Contest
The second half of this first contest only requires a digital camera. Send us the most iconic photo you can create which expresses your love of AMD. Got an AMD tattoo? Prove it. Have an especially awesome AMD technology-based setup in your home or office? Show it off. How many AMD logos (non-digital please, anybody can do that) can you squeeze into the frame? Be creative! Here’s what’s at stake:

■Five “grand prize” photo submissions will each get a new AMD Phenom™ II X4 Black Edition processor and an ASUS M4A78T-E motherboard.
■Eight “first place” photo submissions will each receive a new AMD Athlon 7850 processor and a Gigabyte GA-MA780G-UD3H motherboard.

The contest is open now so send in your best video, photo, or both – but be sure to get them into us by 5pm PDT on Friday, June 19, 2009, when the contest closes. So, get busy!
