Sony Ericsson gives tennis an iconic view with St Peter’s Church, Rome

Rome, – Ana Ivanovic (world female number seven) and Victoria Azarenka (world female number nine), two of the most talented tennis players on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, celebrated the Internazionali BNL d’Italia (Foro Italico - May 3 - 9) with a unique stunt comprising of Ivanovic and Azarenka playing tennis on a custom made, mini-tennis court situated on the roof of the gorgeous Villa Miami with St Peter’s Church as a backdrop before the start of the tournament.

This incredible view created a fantastic and unusual picture for a unique shoot with the two tennis stars as protagonists.

The partnership between Sony Ericsson and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour represents a solid and unique alliance which has given fresh energy, including glamour and style to a sport that is loved by many passionate people throughout the world.

Ana Ivanovic said: 'Sony Ericsson always comes up with fun and different things for us to do to promote our sport and this villa was a beautiful location. I love Rome and the city looks amazing from up here. I hope the weather stays as good as this all week!'

Victoria Azarenka underlined: "I saw some of the photos the other girls did in Doha with the Sony Ericsson desert tennis and was really hoping I would have a chance to be able to do it too, so it was great for me to be a part of the photo shoot in such a beautiful city like Rome. I had so much fun doing this before the tournament starts, and I am really looking forward to playing in Rome."

After a great 2008 tournament with Jelena Jankovic winning singles; 2009 is set to be another fantastic event. This year, the Internazionali BNL d'Italia will be played from May 3 - 9 at Foro Italico, Rome, Italy and features the world’s top women tennis players battling for a total prize fund of US$2 million.
