Apple unlikely to change supplier over Foxconn engineer death, observers in Taiwan say

Apple is unlikely to change its supplier despite the death of an engineer at a Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Inudstry) manufacturing base in China in connection with the loss of a device that is believed to be an iPhone prototype, industry sources in Taiwan have commented.

Speculation has arisen in China about the possiblity of Apple changing its iPhone supplier. But the players from the component sector said such a change is unlikely to happen because product development involves collaboration on technologies that cannot be easily transferred to other makers.

The engineer killed himself after one of 16 devices he was in charge of mailing to Apple was missing, according to reports from China.
