There were 695.20 million subscribers of mobile communication services in China as of the end of June 2009, growing 1.2% on month and 15.72% on year, according to statistics published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The number of subscribers at the end of June accounted for 52.5% of the country's population (user density).
Also at the end of June there were 329.92 million subscribers of fixed telecommunications, translating into a user density of 24.9%.
Mobile subscribers sent 62.1 billion text messages, averaging three per day in June.
