Kentucky Residents To Benefit From Verizon Wireless Network Enhancements

Company Invests More Than $1.5 Million over Past 18 Months to Boost Capacity of High-Speed Data Network.

LOUISVILLE, KY — Kentucky residents and visitors who rely on Verizon Wireless’ advanced 3G high-speed wireless network don’t have to worry about their ability to access the Internet, check e-mail, download music and view high-quality videos. The company announced today that it has spent more than $1.5 million over the past 18 months to boost capacity of its data network in the state.

The project entailed installing equipment on 17 cell sites across Louisville and Paducah, thereby doubling capacity at those sites and enabling Verizon Wireless to continue staying ahead of its customers’ strong demand for wireless data services. In the first quarter of the year, Verizon Wireless’ data revenues were up 56.2 percent over last year.
