Anthony Marano Company Earns CIO Magazine's Honor Recognizing Companies that Exemplify the Highest Level of Operational and Strategic Excellence in IT.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., -- Agito Networks, Inc.(TM), the company delivering innovative solutions in enterprise mobility, announced that customer Anthony Marano Company is a recipient of the 2009 CIO 100 Award. The 22nd annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. Anthony Marano Company was distinguished for its enterprise fixed mobile convergence (eFMC) project, which is powered by Agito Networks' RoamAnywhere(TM) Mobility Router(TM).
"This year's CIO 100 awards draw well-deserved attention to companies that are both innovating and creating business value with IT despite the economic downturn," said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief of CIO magazine & events. "These winners are an inspiration to businesses everywhere."
"The CIO 100 is one of the longest-running and prestigious awards programs in the industry, and we are very proud to be recognized this year for our efforts around continuous voice communications," said Chris Nowak, Anthony Marano Company CTO. "We do millions of dollars of business transactions all day on the phone, and when our staff is not on the phone we are not making money. Enterprise FMC gives us a big advantage because we have the ability to respond quickly and our staff gets calls when they come in. Voicemail is the biggest productivity killer for us, and with less voicemail we are more productive in our mobile environment."
Located near downtown Chicago, Anthony Marano Company serves the Midwest with fine fresh produce from its state-of-the-art distribution center. The 400,000 square foot facility contains 73 docks to receive and ship more than 1,400 types of fresh produce. With its key buyers and sales staff mobile inside and outside the facilities, it needed a means to keep them connected to the critical voice capabilities that ensure its buyers and sales staff are connected to customers at all times. Nowak added that a missed call could easily cost the company thousands of dollars.
According to CIO magazine, "With an average of 3,000 orders a day, answering a call is essential to maintaining Marano's competitive advantage. The fresh produce distributer gave employees Nokia E51 and E61 Series smart phones with Agito's RoamAnywhere server. The technology provides full wireless voice service not only outdoors but also within the metal and concrete walls of its distribution center, which before inhibited wireless service. Since launching the new voice plan, the company says its sales have increased by 10 percent without adding any additional staff."
The 2009 CIO 100 awards will be presented at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Aug. 25, at the conclusion of the 11th annual CIO 100 Symposium(R) and Awards Ceremony.
About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative practices in both business and IT. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100. Once the top 100 honorees were selected, several honorees were chosen to receive an additional special award. Coverage of the 2009 CIO 100 awards can be found at http://www.cio.com/cio100/2009/1, and in the Aug. 1 issue of CIO magazine.
