New bar code scanner and micro kiosk deliver new levels of productivity and efficiency for enterprise organizations.
HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – The Enterprise Mobility Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), announced new advanced data capture solutions designed to improve operational efficiencies and ultimately enhance the customer experience. Motorola’s MT2000 series of bar code scanners combines the simplicity of a scanner with the brainpower of a mobile computer – packaged in an ergonomic form factor. With the new MK4000 micro kiosk, enterprise organizations are equipped with a variety of interactive self-service features for customer- and employee-facing applications to help redefine the shopping experience.
“Motorola’s advanced data capture solutions go beyond scanning – offering versatile tools that help change the way enterprise organizations do business,” said Al Quinn, vice president and general manager of advanced data capture, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions. “The new MK4000 and MT2000 are a testament to Motorola’s rich history of innovation and our commitment to providing customers with breakthrough products to gain a competitive advantage.”
MT2000 Bar Code Scanner - Power of a Mobile Computer in a Scanner
The MT2000 series of bar code scanners provide the power of a mobile computer in a handheld, rugged bar code scanner – the industry’s first device of this kind. The MT2000 series is an affordable and easy-to-use device capable of streamlining scan-intensive business operations for small to medium sized customers in the manufacturing, retail, warehouse, healthcare and supply chain industries.
The rugged MT2000 series allows enterprises to extend the benefits of automated data capture to those workers who do not require a higher end fully featured mobile computer. Application development and deployment is fast and easy. The industry standard Microsoft® .Net Framework enables the easy creation of new applications. Since MCL Technologies’ MCL-Client® software is pre-loaded onto the devices, the optional MCL Designer® software allows existing applications developed for other Motorola mobile computers to be ported to the MT2000 series with point-and-click simplicity. By pre-loading ready-to-use inventory applications, customers can begin using the MT2000 scanner moments after taking it out of the box.
Available in two entry-level models, the MT2070 and MT2090 can quickly help reduce inefficiencies and increase productivity. Offered with a choice of laser or imager scan engine for application flexibility, both devices offer multiple connectivity options. Both support integrated Bluetooth® and can be connected to a host device via USB. The MT2090 supports integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless while the MT2070 is designed to be used in batch mode.
MK4000 Micro Kiosk Redefines Customer Service
The new MK4000 is a multi-functional micro kiosk that enables enterprises to put the power of self-service in the hands of the customer. Delivering an interactive customer experience, the MK4000 is well-suited for businesses looking to better connect with customers, increase employee productivity and in some instances to help ensure compliance with local government regulations.
The versatile MK4000 micro kiosk is ideal for a multitude of service-driven industries. On the retail sales floor, customers can check pricing, verify gift card balances, order a product from the store website and print out personalized coupons without waiting for assistance. In airports, car rental offices, stadiums and theme parks, the MK4000 helps speed customers through check-in without a long line at the gate or counter. In the hotel lobby, the kiosk serves as a personal electronic concierge, helping guests with check-in/check-out, restaurant reservations, turndown service and more. Patients in a hospital or clinic can use the self-service kiosk to check in or schedule an appointment. In addition to a customer self-service kiosk, the MK4000 can act as a workforce management tool as well as a promotional point of presence. For example, employees can view training videos or presentations on new products or policies, punch in and out and access on-demand information to assist customers. In customer-facing areas, when the multimedia kiosk is not in use, it can also play videos to promote company branding, advertise upcoming events and offer customers value-add information.
The MK4000 features Motorola’s signature patented scanning technology and customers can choose the scanning solution that best fits their needs— either the advanced imaging engine for superior performance on 1D, 2D and PDF bar codes or the laser engine for aggressive performance and accurate capture of even damaged and poor quality 1D bar codes. The MK4000 kiosk’s large 12.1 inch touch screen, high performance architecture, stereo speakers, microphone and headset jack supports the development of highly intuitive, interactive applications that are fun and easy to use.
At just under 2.5 inches (6.25 cm) deep, the MK4000 offers one of the thinnest profiles in its product category, enabling easy mounting on shelves, walls, tables, end caps and more. Wireless 802.11a/b/g connectivity eliminates the need to run network cabling to each kiosk and by running Windows CE, the MK4000 enables easy integration into existing technology environments. The MK4000 micro kiosk is compatible with Motorola’s Mobility Services Platform (MSP) to further lower the total cost of ownership by substantially reducing the time associated with deployment and day-to-day monitoring of this self-service technology.
