SINGAPORE, -- Singapore-based Pechora Technologies, with its flagship service HomeCamera, has been announced as the only company from South East Asia to qualify as a Finalist in the prestigious 2009 IEC InfoVision Awards. Pechora's service, HomeCamera (http://www.homecamera.com), has been selected as one of four global finalists in the 'Content, Entertainment, Applications, and Services Category'. The finalists were selected by a panel of judges from the Broadband World Forum Europe 2009 program committee, consisting of industry experts from vendor companies, service providers and industry associations catering to the Internet Service Provider industry.
HomeCamera is a Software-as-a-Service that provides an easy, affordable and secure way for Internet users worldwide to monitor the people, places, and items that matter to them, using off-the-shelf webcams that they already own. Subscribers in over 180 countries use HomeCamera to watch over their homes, children, pets, businesses, and more. The service -- which is currently in free public beta -- is frequently used in combination with its built-in motion detection features to send intruder alerts -- including pictures and videos-- to subscribers' mobile phones and to their email. HomeCamera has been recommended by opinion influencers around the world, such as The San Francisco Chronicle, The New Zealand Herald, PC World, and others, and also recently received recognition with the coveted LifeHacker download-of-the-week award.
Pechora Technologies, the holding company behind HomeCamera, is a Spring TECS Proof-of-Value award recipient, and is one of the few local Internet startups in recent times to have truly gone global. The company is currently in the process of raising a funding round and is in discussions with carefully selected angel investors.
Commented CEO, Varun Arora, "HomeCamera is indeed in good company to sit alongside major multi-national finalists such as Microsoft, Nokia, Motorola and Huawei. As the only South East Asian company to be recognized as a Finalist, this is great progress for the company."
"The IEC's InfoVision Awards recognize top contributions in the information and communications technologies (ICT) industry. We're pleased to recognize HomeCamera as an InfoVision Awards Finalist", commented IEC President John Janowiak.
The IEC will announce winners on Monday, 7 September at the Broadband World Forum Europe 2009 held at the CNIT La Defense in Paris, France. More on HomeCamera: http://www.homecamera.com
