Samsung Electronics, the exhibition ITU Telecom World 2009 which takes place at Geneva (Switzerland), presented its vision of next generation technology Mobile WiMAX - Mobile WiMAX Release 2, based on standard IEEE 802.16m.
IEEE 802.16m is one of the candidates for adoption by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU / ITU), among the many improvements which appears to provide data transfer rate is four times the value of the current Mobile WiMAX Release 1, based on the technology of IEEE 802.16e.
Standard IEEE 802.16m, which is the basic technology for the Mobile WiMAX Release 2, allows the use of more efficient, faster and converged data network. In turn, the Mobile WiMAX Release 2 provides robust backward compatibility with the decisions of Release 1, enabling Mobile WiMAX operators to migrate from their current decisions on Release 1 Release 2, updating channel maps, or software in their systems. In addition, subscribers who are working with Mobile WiMAX will not have problems in the new Mobile WiMAX Release 2 network.
Samsung plans to provide the first tentative solutions Mobile WiMAX Release 2 for for Yota in Russia, Clearwire in the United States and UQ Communications in Japan by the end of 2010, and continue, in close cooperation with other major operators.
