Siano looking to promote CMMB to Taiwan handset vendors

Siano Mobile Silicon is optimistic about the prospects of the China-developed CMMB mobile TV standard, and is promoting its CMMB solutions to Taiwan-based handset vendors, according to company CEO and president Alon Ironi.

Of the global top ten handset vendors, only Nokia and RIM do not yet support CMMB, and six of the eight companies have adopted Siano-developed CMMB solutions, Ironi pointed out.

As Taiwan-based smartphone vendors, such as Acer and Asustek Computer, are relatively newcomers in the China market, adding CMMB functions to their handsets will significantly help promote sales, Ironi claimed. CMMB access cards are also available for notebooks and netbooks, Ironi added.
