Taiwan's unemployment rate slid from the record high of 6.13% in August 2009 to 6.04% in September, ending a four-month streak of consecutive increases in the jobless rate, according to statistics published by the government's Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS). The jobless rate still remained high at 6.04%, compared to 4.27% a year ago.
The monthly jobless rate for January through September averaged 5.85%, compared to 3.96% for the same period in 2008.
