Taiwan-based WiMAX operator Global Mobile on October 5 held a ceremony for the completion of its initial WiMAX infrastructure rollout in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan, and the company expects to pass examination by the National Communications Commission by the end of 2009 and then begin commercial operations in early 2010, according to chairperson Rosemary Ho.
However, Global Mobile will undertake trial operations to offer free pilot services to business users in later October, Ho indicated.
Meanwhile, the company also plans to raise its paid-in capital from NT$1.2 billion (US$37 million) to NT$2.7 billion during the first half of 2010, said Ho, noting that most Global Mobile's original shareholders, including Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), D-Link, Softworld International Entertainment, are expected to take part in the capital expansion project.
