First Android-based MID announced in Korea

A company called Inbrics has announced that it's developed the first Android-based MID in Korea with its own technolgy, together with the Android platform.

Inbrics' business has been focused on VoIP devices for the last two years, and now, it seems the company has achieved sudden success in this sector--moving to MIDs based on its previous experiences through VoIP devices.

Onboard are an ARM Cortex-A8 800MHz processor, AMOLED touchscreen, GPS, digital compass, Wi-Fi, T-DMB for the local market and a QWERTY keyboard for easy text input. No other information has been released yet.

However, I've checked the Web site (www.inbrics.com) and come to know that M1 isn't the only device that the company is working on or planning to develop. It seems a gadget called Dual is also in development, and this one really caught my eye.

It has a dual touchscreen LCD that lets you have easy access to most areas and a stylish outlook. There's no full device image as yet, but below is a simple picture and device layout to give us an impression of the Dual.

Well, Inbrics plans to attend CES 2010 to catch some business with overseas carriers or distrbutors with regard to the M1 MID. It will be very interesting to see if the Dual will be displayed at the booth or not.

This is an unexpected device from an unknown company here. I was expecting those PMP manufacturers to be the first lot on the forefront for Android-based MIDs. Meanwhile, I'll just wait and see if the Android OS can land in Korea and succeed since Linux didn't really make an impact here.
