MEMS makers have received orders for sensors for an MID phone platforms from Quanta Computer, Compal Communications and Inventec Appliances, with shipments slated for the first quarter of 2010, according to industry sources. The sources expect to see a higher acceptance of MID phones in the end-market compared to MIDs, helping to boost MEMS sensor shipments next year.
Almost all makers select Nvidia's T20 solution for MID phone manufacturing, the sources added.
The MID phone can be positioned as a high-end smartphone combining functions of telecommunications and word processing.
