Motorola will continue to commit to both LTE and WiMAX technologies although other telecom equipment makers have focused their deployments on LTE, according to Bruce Brda, senior vice president and general manager of wireless networks for Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility business.
Motorola is capable of offering both LTE and WiMAX solutions to meet carriers' needs for improved network efficiency, while also satisfying consumers' demand for mobile bandwidth, Brda stated.
Motorola is the main supplier of LTE network equipment to KDDI and is also a partner for China Mobile for the supply of TD-LTE solutions, noted Brda, adding that Motorola is also building up a LTE experimental network in Swindon in the UK.
Additionally, Motorola has shipped WiMAX equipment to more than 35 carriers in 20 countries, including shipments of over 10,000 units of WiMAX access equipment and one million WiMAX CPE products.
