Huawei to Expand GSM Network of Grameenphone in Bangladesh

[Dhaka, Bangladesh, 4 June 2008] Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that it has signed a contract with Grameenphone Ltd., the largest mobile operator in Bangladesh and a Telenor subsidiary, for large-scale capacity expansion and enhancement of Next Generation GSM Core and Radio network.

The Grameenphone contract reflects Huawei's leading position as a network infrastructure supplier and is expected to help Grameenphone meet growing capacity requirements. Huawei's solution will also improve the quality of service experienced by Grameenphone customers and thereby enhance the operator's competitive advantage in the market.

The All-IP core network solutions will help Grameenphone build a more robust and flexible mobile network with simplified architecture, that is highly reliable. It can efficiently simplify network and convenience maintenance so as to reduce the operational cost by great extent. Huawei's latest 4th Generation multi-platform All-IP solutions will enable the convergence of radio access networks, providing a smooth evolution to 3G and future access technologies.
