Tusmobil kicks off its high-speed mobile services in record time with Nokia Siemens Networks

Slovenia’s Tusmobil d.o.o. made the first commercial high-speed data call just three weeks after signing a contract with Nokia Siemens Networks to upgrade and expand the mobile operator’s 3G services. The fast implementation allows Tusmobil to start offering its customers enhanced services like high-speed mobile broadband almost immediately.

“We are witnessing one of the fastest 3G rollouts in the history of mobile communications,” said Marko Fujs, Tusmobil CEO. “Our users will very soon enjoy incredible data speed in Tusmobil network.”

Tusmobil has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to boost its network capabilities in order to offer differentiating high-end mobile Internet, data and multimedia services to its customers. The project consists in expanding the network by deploying 400 environmentally-friendly base stations and expanding as well as optimizing the operator’s core network with a leading-edge mobile switching solution.

The upgrade will significantly improve network efficiency and coverage, allowing Tusmobil to offer new services, like mobile television. Powered with High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) technology from Nokia Siemens Networks, the end users will be able to enjoy high download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps, depending on mobile phone capabilities.

“This is a great example of effective cooperation between the two teams as well as a proof of the capabilities of Nokia Siemens Networks in implementation services area and its state-of-the-art solutions with innovative architecture, which are designed for fast and cost-efficient deployment,” said Konstantinos Koroneos, who is in charge of business relations with Tusmobil.

Among the cost-saving solutions supplied is the environmentally friendly Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi base station, which gives power savings at site of over 60 percent, compared to traditional 3G equipment as well as Nokia Siemens Networks MSC Server softswitch solution, allowing operators to boost switching capacity with savings of up to 70 percent in operating expenses, while fully supporting future IP multimedia services.
