Compal Communications appoints new president

Compal Communications has announced that it will promote current executive vice president Stephen Chen to serve as president with the new appointment taking effect on October 1.

Chen will replace incumbent president Lee Nan-hsiung, who will retire due to health reasons. Lee will continue to serve as a director of the company, Compal said.

Chen concurrently also serves as president of Compal's second business unit which oversees the company's development of 3G handsets, smartphones and GPS devices.
