Nuance tapping China market

Nuance Communications, a US-based provider of speech recognition solutions, has been negotiating with China-based handset vendors including Huawei Technologies, ZTE and TCL to adopt its speech- and text-input solutions, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

In view of the large market potential from white-box handsets, Nuance also plans to cooperate with Taiwan-based IC designer MediaTek, currently the largest provider of ICs used in white-box handsets, the sources said. In addition, Nuance has been in cooperation with High Tech Computer (HTC), Mitac International and other Taiwan-based partners, the sources indicated.
