14 LG HDTV Models Now Equipped to Provide Stunning Surround Sound Over Two Stereo Speakers
SANTA ANA, Calif., -- SRS Labs (Nasdaq: SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio, and voice technologies, announced today that LG Electronics has expanded its use of SRS TruSurround XT(R), which produces a remarkable surround sound experience over built-in TV speakers, within six new 2009 TV models, for a total of 14 SRS-equipped LG flat panel HDTVs available at retail.
"SRS is excited about working with an innovative and technology-centric company like LG. We take great pride in the fact that LG has recognized SRS TruSurround XT's ability to perfectly complement an already stunning visual experience with a matching immersive surround sound experience," said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing for SRS Labs. "Offering incredible surround sound while simultaneously eliminating the hassles associated with wiring and setup of external speakers is a priceless innovation that we know consumers appreciate."
SRS' patented, feature rich TruSurround XT solution processes multichannel content to create compelling surround sound over a television's two stereo speakers. As a result, users will sense that "phantom" speakers extend all around them to produce an amazing surround sound effect, complete with deep bass -- all without the clutter of extra wires or speakers placed around the room. When receiving mono or stereo content, SRS TruSurround XT creates an immersive 3D wall of sound that moves well past the physical width of the TV. Dialog quality is also improved as this technology lifts the spoken word above the chaos of sound effects and background music so that it's clear and distinct.
The LG series featuring SRS TruSurround XT includes the LG PG20 series, LG PG30 series, LG PG60 series, LG PS80 series, LG PS60 and LG PQ30 series. Reaffirming SRS' position as the de facto standard for FPTV audio, throughout 2009 LG will equip 14 individual models within the series that support SRS' state-of-the-art sound.
"SRS TruSurround XT is an innovative solution that turns great picture quality into a phenomenal multimedia experience, and provides our customers with high-quality, immersive audio that matches the crisp images of our LG HDTV lineup," said Jong Seok Park, President of PDP Division, Executive Vice President for LG Electronics. "We're happy to be working with an innovator like SRS Labs and look forward to developing our partnership even further in the future."
SRS Labs is running a sweepstakes to give away three HDTVs featuring the SRS TruSurround XT suite. The sweepstakes will take place March 23 - April 20, 2009. To enter for your chance to win, please visit http://www.srslabs.com/TVsweeps.
