LG G2 – New Release Date Details Surface
The LG G2 continues to be the talk of the town. As you may already know, LG has already sent out press invites for an event that will be held in New York on August 7, during which the aforementioned flagship will be unveiled in all its glory. So there’s no wonder that leaks and rumors surrounding this particular gadget are heating up, as that’s usually the case with each major release before its imminent unveiling.
Now, although we do have a reveal date confirmed, we evidently don’t know exactly when the G2 will go on sale. However, recent reports have given us a few timeframes. Join us after the break for more details.
LG G2 – Release Date Timeframes
The LG G2 is going to be the company’s hottest smartphone for year 2013, being the most powerful and innovative (or at least unique) LG handset yet. Rumor has it that the upcoming Nexus smartphone is also being built on G2's foundations, so it’s a hyped-up smartphone for good reasons.
However, the biggest question LG enthusiasts have at this point is “when and where will I be able to buy one?“.
Well, according to Korean-based sources, the LG G2 is going to hit the shelves on the company’s home ground sometime in early August, probably very shortly after the handset’s unveiling.
According to these reports, North America will be next in line, where fans of the G2 will be able to purchase the device in September. After that, availability will expand to Europe (we’re still talking September) and finally, on a global scale, the smartphone should be available by October.
Evidently, these timeframes have not been confirmed by the manufacturer and even though they make sense, they are still subject to change. Treat the information accordingly and stay tuned. We’ll keep you up to speed as soon as we find out more.

LG TO UPDATE GOOGLE TV WITH LATEST ANDROID 4.2.2. JELLY BEAN OS
With Support for the Android NDK, LG Smart TV with Google TV
Will Provide Access to Larger, More Diverse Selection of Apps and Games
LG Electronics (LG) announced that its Google TVs will be updated with the latest version of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. Available in the third quarter, the update will enable customers to enjoy more applications, including games that provide a greater level of interactivity and advanced graphics. LG is showcasing its Google TV with the new operating system at the Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco this week.
In addition to boosting overall performance, the latest Jelly Bean update supports the Android Native Development Kit (NDK) so Google TV owners can have the widest, most diverse selection of apps to choose from. Smartphone apps designed using the NDK will run on Google TV with little to no modifications. With NDK compatibility, users can now play more games on a bigger LG Google TV screen. This level of compatibility makes it easier for developers to enter the burgeoning Smart TV app market.
“LG’s Google TV with the latest Jelly Bean operating system and NDK support will deliver an enhanced user experience and access to more great apps,” said Havis Kwon, president and CEO of the LG Home Entertainment Company. “In addition to enabling users to enjoy advanced Android apps, the latest OS will also provide developers with new opportunities in the Smart TV arena.”
Users will also benefit from LG’s exceptional remote control options, which will make it easier to interact with the vast amount of content available on LG Google TV. In addition to the intuitive functionality of its Magic Remote Qwerty, LG will introduce a free remote control app that can turn any Android smartphone or tablet into a two-handed, touch-sensitive game controller. LG’s new controller app is the ideal control solution for the large number of interactive games set to arrive on the upgraded Google TV platform as it provides a level of control necessary to play more complex games such as football and racing simulations.
The latest update will also include LG’s patented 3D Game Changer, bringing a dimension to interactive games never seen before. 3D Game Changer produces a fully immersive effect by displaying 2D games in enhanced 3D mode, for an effect previously available only in movies filmed with 3D equipment.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean will be available asan over-the-air (OTA) download for existing LG Google TVs in the United States starting in the third quarter. For a video demonstration of LG Google TV with Android 4.2.2. Jelly Bean, please go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-WxHVwodpA.
LG COMMERCIALIZES FIRST SMARTPHONE WITH PRIVACY AND BUSINESS VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY IN U.S.
Strategic Venture with VMware and Verizon Wireless Enables
Secure Virtual Mobile Experience on LG’s Optimus Vu:
LG Electronics (LG) announced that its Optimus Vu: — known as Intuition in the United States — is the first commercialized smartphone in the U.S. on the Verizon Wireless Network to offer Privacy and Business (P&B) Virtualization. P&B Virtualization essentially divides the smartphone’s operating system in half — creating a secure, IT-controlled environment for business applications, while leaving the end user’s personal data and applications unchanged. The LG Optimus Vu: is the first of a new breed of enterprise-ready smartphones that offer the convenience of this secure, virtual work platform along with all the benefits of LG’s exceptional mobile technologies and user-friendly UX features.
The Optimus Vu: is the result of LG’s successful strategic venture with VMware, the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, and Verizon Wireless, the largest mobile network operator in the United States. This newest device follows in the footsteps of another collaborative effort, the LG Revolution for VMware® Horizon Mobile™. Winner of the coveted International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award in 2012, the device featured VMware Horizon Mobile and gave users an exciting sample of the virtual mobile experience.
Many of today’s businesses implement a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policy when it comes to mobile phones in the workplace. But having work information and applications on a personal device can represent a security risk, and also can make it challenging for the user to keep personal and business-related matters separate. LG’s mobile device with P&B Virtualization provides a separate, secure virtual work environment that is accessible anywhere, anytime. Employing VMware Horizon Mobile, the LG Optimus Vu: allows users to run a second operating system, completely isolated from the one running on thedeviceitself. This makes it easy to keep work-related applications and data separate from personal ones. By reducing security risks and enhancing manageability for businesses, P&B Virtualization is also more secure than the current range of app container-based solutions available in the market.
“The Optimus Vu: with P&B Virtualization represents a giant leap forward in mobile virtualization technology,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Joining forces with VMware and Verizon Wireless has enabled us to create an enterprise-ready smart device that enhances productivity and convenience. Users can enjoy the versatility of having two devices in one while businesses can feel safe in the knowledge that sensitive information will be completely secure.”
“LG and VMware are addressing the challenges IT departments face every day due to BYOD and the consumerization of IT,” said Boaz Chalamish, senior vice president and general manager, End-User Computing, VMware. “Creating a separate virtual workspace on a mobile device enables IT to provide security and control, while also reducing the burden and liability of managing the entire device. This approach strikes the best balance between addressing IT security needs and end-user freedom.”
LG plans to introduce P&B Virtualization in more of its industr

Revised Google Nexus 4 with Bluetooth 4.0 clears Bluetooth SIG
The Google I/O conference will kickoff in just a few hours, and although Google has said that we don’t have to expect a lot of new hardware and the next iteration of Android (5.0 Key Lime Pie), we are still quite sure that they will release a revised version of the LG Nexus 4. On the website of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group we found confirmation that there will be a new LG Nexus 4 (LG-E960) with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
Google’s current Nexus 4 version that was launched in September 2012 only supports the Bluetooth 3.0 specification. However, it is still disappointing to see that the Nexus 4 will only have 3G connectivity, while it was rumored that there might be a version coming with 4G/LTE support and Android 4.3.
We expect to learn more about the new hardware (Rev1.1) later today during the Google I/O 2013 conference that this year will be taking place in San Francisco, United States.
White Google Nexus 4 caught on video
Look what showed up at a conference in Dubai, the white Google Nexus 4 in all its glory. We’ve taken a video of it and made it available for your lusting. The device was a demo unit at the Qualcomm booth at The Mobile Show so don’t expect retail availability anytime soon – that is unless Google announces something else tomorrow at the Google I/O event. Back to the white Nexus 4, the device looks great on the back and may actually give the black Nexus 4 a run for its money. However the front is still black and takes the charm away from the device. The internals were pretty much the same and the device was running an older version of Android – 4.2 to be precise.
Edit: We’ve had another look at the device and the storage is 16GB. It may be that this device is a 16GB one and there may be a 32GB one which we haven’t seen. Or it may just be that the White Nexus 4 has been a limited edition all along that is available only to very select developers. Maybe, just maybe the white Nexus 4 will never see retail release. At this point, all we can do is speculate.

Hands on with the white Google Nexus 4
We got our hands on the Google Nexus 4 at The Mobile Show in Dubai, UAE. The phone looks beautiful at the back but the black front doesn't go well with it. The phone was running Android OS 4.2 (not 4.2.2) and while we tried to get more information (possibly LTE implementation, we couldn't find that.
Waterproof Smartphone LG Optimus GJ will be released next week
According to the resource E-Price, LG Electronics is preparing to release a smartphone LG Optimus GJ. The company sends out invitations to a presentation about the device - it will be held on May 22. The model is actually a modification of the water-resistant flagship smartphone LG Optimus G. Features LG Optimus GJ will be the same as that of the LG Optimus G. However, the new product will protect against moisture in accordance with the specification IPX7. This means that the smartphone will not damage the immersion in water to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. By the way, one water-resistant modification LG Optimus G - LG Optimus G L-01E - already exists in Japan, it is hoped that the LG Optimus GJ will be more broad geography of sales.

LG BEGINS SALES OF WORLD’S FIRST CURVED OLED TV
Pre-orders for 55-inch TV Starts Today in Korea, Shipping Next Month
LG Electronics (LG) announced that it will begin accepting pre-orders for its 55-inch (54.6-inch diagonal) Curved OLED TV (Model 55EA9800) in South Korea, with deliveries to begin next month. More than 1,400 LG retail stores in South Korea will begin taking orders today from customers for the premium TV, priced at KRW 15 million (approximately USD 13,500). The announcement makes LG the first and only company to commercialize both the flat screen OLED TV, which began shipping to Korean customers in February, and the Curved OLED TV, giving LG a significant lead in the OLED segment that is expected to grow to 7 million units by 2016, according to DisplaySearch.
“Our Curved OLED TV is not only the proof of LG’s unmatched leadership in next-generation displays but also a testament to LG’s commitment to bringing to market the most exciting TV technology available today,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company.
The new EA9800 model features the industry’s very first curved screen ergonomic design, providing an “IMAX-like” viewing experience in the home. With more than five years of research behind developing the optimum curvature, the entire screen surface is equidistant from the viewer’s eyes, eliminating the problem of screen-edge visual distortion and loss of detail.
Only 4.3 millimeters (0.17 inches) thin and weighing just 17 kilograms (37.48 pounds), LG’s Curved OLED TV produces astoundingly vivid and realistic images thanks to its proprietary WRGB technology. The unique Four-Color Pixel system features a white sub-pixel, which works in conjunction with the conventional red, blue, green setup to create the perfect color output. What’s more, LG’s exclusive Color Refiner delivers even greater tonal enhancement, resulting in images that are more vibrant and natural than anything seen before. As in the original flat screen OLED TV, the Curved OLED TV also offers an infinite contrast ratio for optimal contrast levels regardless of ambient brightness or viewing angle. TÜV Rheinland, Intertek and VDE, three international testing and certification bodies, recently recognized LG’s Curved OLED TV for its superb picture quality.
Finally, LG’s Curved OLED TV features thin transparent film speakers in the crystal clear stand, providing high-quality sound without compromising the TV’s beautiful design. LG’s Curved OLED TV took the top “red dot: best of the best” honor at the prestigious design competition earlier this year.
Timing and pricing of the Curved OLED TV in markets outside of Korea will be announced in the months ahead.
