Taiwan-based driver IC designer Orise Technology is working with panel maker AU Optronics (AUO) on resistive touch controllers for handset applications. Orise expects to start volume production in the second half of 2009.
Shipment volumes of the touch ICs will depend on AUO's schedule, the company added.
Fellow Taiwan-based companies have also expressed interest in cooperating with panel makers on handset-use touch panel solutions, according to industry sources.
