Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom (APBT), one of the five operators of 3G mobile communication services in Taiwan, booked an EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) of NT$800 million (US$24.1 million) on revenues of NT$4.1 billion in the first quarter of 2009, according to estimates by market sources.
APBT also saw the number of its subscribers increase to 1.98 million at the end of the first quarter, compared to 1.83 million at the end of December 2008, revealed the sources, noting that monthly ARPU (average revenue per user) surpassed NT$500.
To further strengthen its financial structure, APBT is considering expanding its capital by bringing in foreign strategic partners or persuading its creditor bank, Deutsche Bank, to convert a previously granted loan of US$74 million into equity investment, according to market sources.
