A new hybrid image stabilizer Canon

The Company Canon has announced the development of Hybrid Image Stabilizer (Hybrid IS - hybrid image stabilizer), which, in its words, is the world's first optical image stabilizer, as a compensating angular camera shake, and shake with the offset. This technology, with the words company, will be implemented in its interchangeable lenses for SLR (SLR) cameras, which are planned for release before the end of this year.

According to the manufacturer, to compensate for errors caused by camera shake, they used several different preventive and corrective procedures. Company Canon began to explore these methods are still in the 80's of last century. In 1995 Canon released the world's first removable lens for SLR cameras with a mechanism for compensation of optical effects tremor - EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. Since then, the company continues to produce various interchangeable lenses with image stabilization function. In the current portfolio of products includes a total of 21 such a lens.

Canon believes that its new technology of Hybrid IS is an optimal solution to compensate for angular and linear (with shift) shake the camera. Sharp bends camera can cause a noticeable blurring of images during normal shooting, while the blurring due to displacement, while the camera moves parallel to the object, a characteristic of close-ups and macro.

The new Hybrid IS involves the angular velocity sensor for measuring the angular camera shake, which was used in all pre-arrangements of optical image stabilization and a new acceleration sensor, which determines the degree of flicker offset. In Hybrid IS a new algorithm that takes into account the output signals of two sensors and provides the movement of lens elements to compensate for both types of shaking. Hybrid IS significantly increases the effectiveness of image stabilization, especially in the macro, and allows you to get the result, which is difficult to obtain using traditional methods.

Canon states that are actively engaged in research and development of removable lenses for SLR cameras with the technology of Hybrid IS. The company aims to implement as soon as possible industrial introduction
