Cricket Brings World’s Largest Working Cell Phone to the Inner Harbor

~ Baltimore Residents Invited to Make the Biggest Calls of their Life on the Guinness World Record-Breaking Samsung Phone ~

BALTIMORE – Cricket, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, and Samsung Telecommunications America, (Samsung Mobile) a leading mobile phone distributor in the U.S., will bring the world’s largest working cell phone (WLWCP) to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor today. As the title sponsor of Baltimore’s Fourth of July Celebration, Cricket Wireless and the WLWCP will be on display at the Inner Harbor from July 1 to July 5.

Cricket invites all Baltimore residents to make the “biggest call of their life” on the monstrous phone. The life-size replica of the Samsung MessagerTM is approximately 15 feet long, 13 feet high and 3 feet deep. Baltimore residents can use the WLWCP to talk or text message with family and friends across the country.

Additional activities at the four-day event include:
• “Respekt Your Voice” singing showcase: visitors can sing the “Respect” song in the phone’s interactive video booth, and the videos will be posted on YouTube for friends and family to enjoy
• A live performance by gospel artist Jamonne Driver, who will give away free autographed CDs to the first 100 visitors on July 1
• A hand-to-hand in a texting competition booth where the fastest fingers win fun prizes
• Visitors can have their pictures taken in front of the phone and have them uploaded to www.getsomerespekt.com, where the photos can be shared with family and friends
• The kick-off of Cricket’s national handset recycling program in Baltimore: visitors who bring in used phones to be recycled will receive a free reusable shopping tote, and the proceeds will be donated to Cricket’s national nonprofit partner, Rebuilding Together
• An experiential display area featuring Cricket and Samsung Mobile products

“There’s no better place to be leading up to the Fourth of July than the Inner Harbor, and we’re bringing the World’s Largest Working Cell Phone to add to the excitement,” said Peter Eckel, area general manager for Cricket in Baltimore. “This is an exciting way for us to continue to celebrate Cricket coming to Baltimore, and ultimately providing value to residents of this great city.
