Nokia in first place in the choice of navigation devices in Europe and in Russia

The company Nokia today announced that according to research conducted by Frost & Sullivan in European and Russian customers, she has become their number 1 choice for mobile navigation, among other leading manufacturers of mobile phones.

The main purpose of this study, the words of the company, was to assess the perceptions, understandings, expectations and motivations of European and Russian consumers in relation to navigation and services based on positioning. A key target of the study was to analyze the level of satisfaction and consumer "awareness" of the various navigation systems (eg, PNS, cell phones), multiple functions (eg, navigation, 3D mapping, voice prompts, touch screen), service-based positioning (eg . automotive and pedestrian navigation, traffic information, social networks) and other telematic functions. The purpose of this study was to explore consumer perceptions and willingness to pay for different types of navigation systems, their functionality and services based on location, as well as the definition and perception of the brand recognition by consumers.

According to Frost & Sullivan, the device with an embedded GPS-navigation is a rapidly growing market segment in Europe with more than 30 million of the devices in 2008 and about the projected 80 million in 2010. In Russia, in 2008, the market for mobile phones with integrated GPS navigation was more than 300 thousand units, that the percentage equivalent of more than 60% of all navigation devices.

In total, the survey involved 3 119 people from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Britain and the Benelux countries, in addition to the 600 interviewees from Russia. As a result of this study revealed that 62% of respondents from Europe are not the owners of mobile devices with embedded GPS navigation and 77% of Russia are considering the company Nokia as a leader as a provider of mobile GPS devices. In addition, more than 72% European and 81% of Russian interviewees with GPS devices, voted for a brand like Nokia better supplier of navigational devices.
