Sky Link has doubled the capacity of 3G networks in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region

By the beginning of the business season mobile operator Sky Link has doubled the capacity of 3G networks in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region by transferring the second «voice» carrier frequency in data transfer mode. Currently, Sky Link skips over 50 TB per month of Internet traffic in the city and the region, the total amount of traffic data from the beginning of the year in the North-West region has already exceeded 300 TB.

Due to the redistribution of carriers, to provide additional network capacity, which allows to develop data transmission services, without prejudice to the voice services. In future we intend to continue to equip all delivered in the city and the area of base station two carriers EVDO, including EVDO Rev.A. Total currently services «Sky Link» available in the territory of more than 5,000 settlements in 32 regions of the Russian Federation.

The company «Sky Link» uses three frequency channel (carrier frequency) in the range of 450 MHz, each at 1.25 MHz. A vote had been allocated two carriers, which are also used for data transmission using CDMA-1x, a third carrier was allocated under the EVDO (Rev.O and Rev.A). In order to ensure the growing data in 2009 under the EVDO identified two carriers of the three, thus doubling the capacity of the network data transfer. Also conducted all the necessary R & D in the range of 2.1 GHz in the experimental-commercial operation dvuhdiapazonnoy network IMT-MC 450/2100 MHz.
