I-87 Corridor from Ulster County to Lake George.

AT&T* announced a substantial strengthening of its 3G mobile broadband wireless network in the Hudson Valley. As a result, customers in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, and Ulster Counties should experience better connectivity, performance and enhanced in-building wireless coverage.

The culmination of more than a year of intense labor in a territory acquired from the former Dobson Communications Corporation , AT&T's 3G network began its Hudson Valley roll-out in May and is now accessible to customers throughout areas of Athens, Beacon, Cairo, Catskill, Chatham, Claverack, Coeymans, Coxsackie, Ellenville, Esopus, Fishkill, Highland, Hudson, Hurley, Kinderhook, Kingston, Lake Katrine, Marlboro, New Baltimore, New Paltz, Port Ewen, Poughkeepsie, Ravena, Saugerties, Stockport, Valatie, Wawarsing, and Woodstock. This 3G expansion also provides additional coverage on major roadways, like I-87.

In addition to extending its 3G wireless broadband network to 82 cell sites in the Hudson Valley, AT&T has added new cell sites in Ghent, Marbletown, and Olive. AT&T also plans to expand wireless coverage for its customers in Uniondale near Clove Mountain later this year.

To address the growing demand for advanced wireless services, AT&T has added 42 new cell sites throughout New York this year and expanded its 3G mobile broadband network to 2,016 sites in the state. These enhancements build upon AT&T's overall technology investment in New York, which exceeded $1.3 billion from 2006 to 2008.

"Delivering dependable wireless coverage in more places in upstate New York for consumers and business customers who need to stay connected to work, family and friends is our ultimate objective," said William Leahy, vice president of Atlantic region legislative and regulatory affairs for AT&T. "Our ongoing investments in the state will help us ensure that our customers have access to the wireless services that help drive economic growth."

"Our sales team is available to assist customers, especially those transitioning from Dobson, to help them find the right wireless solution to meet their individual needs. Whether they are checking e-mail, uploading video or using award-winning applications like AT&T Navigator, AT&T lets today's wireless customers make the most of their mobile experience," added Bob Holliday, vice president and general manager for AT&T Upstate New York. "From road warriors to texting teens, twice as many Smartphone users in the U.S. have chosen AT&T over any other wireless carrier. We have something for everyone."

AT&T's 3G mobile broadband network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most open and widely used wireless network platforms in the world. AT&T offers 3G data roaming in more than 100 countries, as well as voice calling in more than 215 countries.

Across the U.S., AT&T's 3G network is available in more than 350 major metropolitan areas.
