Brazilian Company Offers Mobile Technology in South Africa

Soccerex'09, biggest event for soccer businesses, will bring together in Johannesburg teams and delegations from all over the world.

SAO PAULO -- Mowa Sports will be responsible for all mobile services (mobile telephony) that are to be provided during Soccerex'09, the main world event for soccer businesses being held in South Africa.

The project developed by Mowa Sports will bring content and information from this event to the mobile universe, that is, to cell phones -- ranging from the simplest devices to smartphones.

The company has created a mobile version of the website (www.soccerex.mobi) for the event -- with the scheduling of a congress, data about exhibitors and a list of the participating delegations -- and it will be performing activities with bluetooth technology (distribution of videos and newsletters) and text messaging, sending out alerts on schedules of talks, interviews, announcements and other event information.

Mowa Sports is also a sponsor of the Football Festival, a two-day festive pre-event, which will feature the participation of former professional soccer players from countries such as England, Holland and Brazil.

Soccerex combines a congress and a trade fair dedicated to soccer, held annually in the country that will be hosting the next World Cup. The 14th edition of the gathering will take place from November 30 to December 2 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

"Bringing together the excitement of sports and the speed and practicality of cell phones creates lots of possibilities and opportunities," says Alfredo Correia, partner and Vice President of Mowa.

Mowa Sports is one of the business units of Mowa, a Brazilian company specializing in providing mobile corporate solutions. It was originally set up to provide companies, institutions and sports stars with innovative ways to transform the love for sports into new forms of business for cell phones. The unit presently serves clients such as the CBF (Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol), Brazil's soccer federation, the mobile telephony operator Vivo (sponsor of Brazil's national soccer team), Vivo Minas (volleyball) and Vivo Franca (basketball).

Founded seven years ago, Mowa (www.mowa.com.br) acts as a specialized holding company in the management of businesses that focus on the development of solutions in the mobile universe. There are three business units: Mowa Phone (specializing in the management of the entire operation for corporate mobile telephony), Mowa Sports (mobile marketing for the world of sports) and Mowa Branding (strategic planning and implementation of the mobile presence of companies). The fourth unit -- Mowa Labs -- is the group's research and innovation department. In its portfolio Mowa has solutions developed for companies such as Pao de Acucar, Coca-Cola, Samsung, Votorantim, ArcelorMittal and Gerdau.
