Red Bend's Mobile Software Management Client Reaches 620 Million Devices

WALTHAM, Mass.-- Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management (MSM), announced that its mobile software management client, vRapid Mobile®, has shipped in 620 million mobile devices worldwide, spanning 455 device models from leading manufacturers, including Sony Ericsson, LG, Motorola, Sharp and HTC. During third quarter, Red Bend signed four new customers, including Sagem Communications, for a total of 52 licensees of its solutions for mobile software updating and device management.

Red Bend's MSM client, vRapid Mobile, is the leading solution for updating firmware over the air (FOTA) and managing software components over the air (SCOTA). Red Bend's product portfolio also includes vDirect Mobile(TM), the leading independent device management (DM) client interoperable with any server supporting standards from the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA DM).

"Third quarter was another strong period of growth for Red Bend as market adoption of mobile software management grew to more platforms and more devices," said Yoram Salinger, CEO of Red Bend Software. "While analysts say overall handset shipments declined year-over-year by four to six percent, our shipments grew by 20% compared to third quarter 2008. As the mobile industry becomes more competitive, our customers trust Red Bend to help them bring innovative mobile devices, services and applications to market faster while improving the mobile user experience with new features and software improvements."

Highlights from the third quarter:

•Android Demand: Google Android's popularity is creating demand for Red Bend's cross-platform, standards-based MSM solutions. Borqs, a leading open source mobile application software provider and integrator, began shipping Red Bend's software in the HTC Dopod A6188 smartphone featuring the OPhone OS, an Android-based platform developed by Borqs for China Mobile, the world's largest wireless network operator.
•M2M in Europe: France-based Sagem Communications, a leading provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions, joined Red Bend's growing roster of M2M customers. Sagem, which has delivered more than 14 million cellular modules worldwide, will use FOTA from Red Bend to deliver new features and software improvements throughout the product lifespan.
•Technology Leadership: Red Bend was granted two more patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for revertible and failsafe features of the company's already patented in-place update methods for managing software on mobile devices. The features improve the mobile user experience and enable Red Bend's customers to reduce support costs and increase service revenues.
•Market Recognition: Independent research firm Ovum named Red Bend the leader in firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating with 64% market share. The company also was awarded second place in the 2009 Deloitte Brightman Almagor Zohar Technology Fast 50 competition for its impressive revenue growth over the past five years.
