Enhanced cell sites keep residents connected to e-mail, music & mobile Web; Get faster connections in Teaneck and Tenafly; Company invests more than $50 billion in America’s most reliable and largest wireless voice and 3G data network.
WARREN, NJ — Wireless calling, text messaging and surfing the Mobile Web on the Verizon Wireless high-speed 3G network is now easier and faster for Bergen County residents and visitors, thanks to the activation of two new cell sites.
The new cell sites improve network coverage and expand Mobile Broadband services in the following areas:
•Teaneck: Along Elizabeth Avenue between Garrison and Alicia avenues, and on Palisade Avenue between West Englewood and Degraw avenues.
•Tenafly: On East Clinton Avenue from Devon to Buckingham roads, and along Hudson Avenue from Miller’s Crossing to Stonybrook Road.
With the improved network coverage, customers can use their wireless devices to send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; view high-quality videos; and access VZ Navigator(SM)’s turn-by-turn directions, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls. The Verizon Wireless network also is built for reliability during emergencies, such as power outages and extreme weather conditions, with redundancy capabilities in place to maintain service for customers when they need it the most.
These network enhancements are part of Verizon Wireless’ aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company’s voice and data services. Verizon Wireless spent $123 million to enhance services and coverage throughout metro New York and New Jersey in the first half of this year and $238 million in 2008. The company’s total network investment since 2000 is more than $2.2 billion in the region and over $50 billion nationwide.
“We’ve always believed even the most advanced cell phone is only as good as the network it runs on, “ said Pat Devlin, regional president. “Our 3G high-speed Mobile Broadband network is the largest and most reliable in the United States and we expect to commercially launch our Long Term Evolution (LTE) fourth generation network in up to 30 markets next year.”
Nationally, Verizon Wireless’ real-life test men and women drive more than 90 specially-equipped vehicles nearly one million miles each year on the country’s most frequently traveled roadways to confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless’ network and the networks of other carriers.
