AT&T Joins Veriplace(R) Cloud Location Platform Initiative for Trial Program

User Privacy Protected as SMS, IVR, Web and WAP Developers Able to Develop Location-Aware Apps across All Major Operating Systems.

LAS VEGAS -- WaveMarket (www.wavemarket.com), a leader in mobile location-based platforms and applications, announced in conjunction with the AT&T Developer Summit in Las Vegas that AT&T has joined the Veriplace Location Platform Initiative for a trial program, opening up access to AT&T's location infrastructure to more than 1,000 third party developers using the Veriplace cloud location platform. The trial program will launch in the coming weeks.

The agreement will help developers create innovative location-aware applications compatible with all major operating systems (OS) as well as give end users robust controls for safeguarding their privacy and security.

By utilizing the carrier network, Veriplace allows for a background polling solution, enabling developers to write SMS, Web, WAP and IVR applications that can employ location information even when an application is not in use. For example, a customer who signs up for a mobile weather application can give the application permission to send alerts about approaching storms or severe conditions based on the customer's location, even when the customer may not have the app actively running on the handset. Additionally, utilization of the carrier network allows devices to be located both indoors and outdoors, to varying degrees of accuracy.

At the same time, the Veriplace platform keeps customers in control of their location information. A customer's location information is never released to an application without the user's explicit permission, and end users of applications powered by Veriplace can manage privacy and security preferences without having to install special software on their devices. Customers can revoke permission for an application to locate them at any time.

The agreement with AT&T also makes Veriplace the only cloud location platform that provides developers with a single API for developing across multiple carriers.

"Veriplace protects end-user privacy while offering application developers a single web-service API to locate more than 100 million devices across multiple carriers," said Tasso Roumeliotis, CEO, WaveMarket. "We're thrilled to be able to offer these innovative location-aware tools to developers working on applications for AT&T customers."

Developers who want to location-enable their web, mobile web, SMS, voice or mobile handset-based services can explore the Veriplace Location Aggregation Platform for free at http://developer.veriplace.com.
