UK waves goodbye to Sony Ericsson Xperia X2

Vodafone has confirmed that it will not be selling the Xperia X2 due to problems during testing holding back its release date, meaning it won' be coming to the UK as planned just yet.

Vodafone has confirmed it will be dropping the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 from its portfolio due to delays in testing.

The mobile provider had the exclusive rights to sell the device in the UK but a spokesperson from the company told IT PRO today that it wasn't going to go ahead with the plans.

“The delivery date of the device, with Windows 6.5, slipped pre-Christmas due to a series of technical issues and we have taken the decision not to go ahead with the launch as it no longer fits with our planned portfolio," the mobile giant said in a statement.

The X2 is still set to go on sale across the rest of Europe.

It is yet another blow for Sony Ericsson which recently had its Satio handset taken off the shelves in the Carphone Warehouse due to problems with software.

Vodafone, however, has just managed to bag the new Google phone, the Nexus One, to sell across Europe.
