Compal Communications shipped 4.7 million handsets in the second quarter of 2009, bringing the total handset shipments for the first half of 2009 to 9.03 million units, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
Compal has posted revenues of NT$2.39 billion (US$72.64 million) for June, up 46.7% sequentially but down 4.6% on year, according to data available from the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
For the first half of this year, revenues totaled NT$12.1 billion, a decline of 31.3% from a year earlier, the data showed.
Compal expects to see its revenues expand significantly in the fourth quarter of 2009 as the company has landed Android-powered handset orders from Motorola as well as Japan-based Kyocera, EDN quoted market sources as indicating.
