Nokia collaborates with Wild Wonders of Europe

Nokia has entered into a collaboration agreement with a pan-European photographic initiative, Wild Wonders of Europe. This one-of-a-kind project involves nearly 70 of Europe’s top photographers from 18 countries who will undertake over 100 assignments in around 48 European countries. The initiative, which began in early 2008, will be the world’s most spectacular wildlife and nature show ever seen. Nokia is proud to collaborate with this unique project and help the photographers whilst on their missions by providing devices that will allow them to stay in touch, capture images, upload imagery and video content and tell their story which can be seen via Ovi Share.

So far there are already more than 50 online galleries showcasing many of the 150,000 images from the project, blogs from the photographers in the field and a very popular monthly photo competition on the Wild Wonders of Europe website with interactive content and daily updates; social media networks, podcasts and video diaries. Plans for 2010 – 2012 include a major outdoor exhibition tour to all key European cities, a large-format coffee-table book in multiple languages and AV shows throughout Europe.

“We are teaming up with the very best partners in each field and with Nokia we have certainly achieved this. We are delighted that Nokia has joined the programme and can see them helping us reach our goal of revealing the amazing richness and variety of our own European natural heritage to the 700 million Europeans and to the rest of the world,” said Staffan Widstrand, Managing Director, Wild Wonders of Europe.
