Taiwan market: Vee Telecom to kick off WiMAX services in December, says paper

Taiwan-based Vee Telecom Multimedia will officially kick off its WiMAX services in Taichung, central Taiwan in December, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) quoted Vee president Huang Yen-nan as indicating.

Vee Telecom plans to start the purchase of WiMAX CPE products worth over NT$300 million (US$9.1 million) in September for its initial operations that will cover 100,000 household users, the paper said, noting Vee aims to expand its WiMAX user base to 500,000 households at the end of 2010.

Vee will also decide the supplier for WiMAX base stations needed for construction of its second-phase WiMAX networks in October, the paper added.
