MediaTek revenues expected to exceed NT$12 billion in August

MediaTek is expected to see its revenues grow 10% sequentially to surpass NT$12 billion (US$364.74 million) in August due to strong demand from the handset industry in China, according to market sources.

MediaTek's 3G (WCDMA and TD-SCDMA) handset chips will be produced in volume in September, and shipments of its 2.5G and 2.7G smartphone chip solutions are also expanding and driving the company's revenues, the sources indicated.

MediaTek's consumer electronics and optical storage product lines are also improving thanks to seasonal demand, the sources said, adding the IC designer is expected to raise its third-quarter guidance and see its fourth-quarter revenues decline by less than 20%, the sources added.

The company described the estimations as speculation.
