LG Showcases the Future of Charging Technology

Las Vegas – LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, unveiled an innovative wireless charger at CES 2010 in Las Vegas that makes simultaneous charging of multiple mobile devices a breeze.

LG’s unique wireless charging system resembles a mouse pad but enables consumers to use several mobile devices on the move without worrying about running out of batteries or fumbling around with cables. Charging is literally as simple as placing the devices on the unobtrusive 320 mm x 250 mm pad.

“More and more consumers today are looking for a simple and convenient way to charge their mobile devices,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG is focusing on freeing our customers from adaptors and the wireless charger is the fruit of our ongoing effort to deliver a better mobile experience for consumers.”

The LG wireless charger is a portable power system designed to recharge up to three mobile devices at a time, allowing road warriors to easily plug in and get extra hours of battery life without having to place all the devices near an AC outlet. The wireless charging pad frees users from cables and the worries about packing an adaptor for each device.

Safety is another benefit of the LG wireless charger. LG designed the mat to be unaffected by metal conductors such as keys, coins or other metal objects. In addition, the wireless charger is able to provide stable power for multiple devices irrespective of placement or movement on the pad.

The charger also helps make a positive contribution to the environment. Thanks to the flexibility of the LG wireless charger, compatibility among power adapters is no longer a problem, reducing the number of electronic components that end up in landfills.

The LG wireless charger will be commercially available in the second half of 2010.
