Motorola Mobility and Nextel Argentina Unveil the Android™-Powered Motorola i940 with Prip


The new Motorola i940 smartphone combines leading Push-to-Talk (PTT) service with Android platform in a stylish device with 3,5’’ touchscreen

Motorola Mobility of Argentina S.A and Nextel Argentina released the new Motorola i940, an smartphone designed to combine the speed, reliability of Nextel two-way radio service with the functionality of the Android™ platform. The new handset also features a 3.5” display, the largest screen currently available for a Nextel product. Motorola i940 will be available through starting on Thursday, May 17.

Motorola and Nextel's new Prip, (PTT), smartphone is ideal for customers who want to stay connected at all times. The new Motorola i940 joins Nextel’s portfolio of smartphones, featuring great communication options enabled by the combination of the Android™ platform and Nextel Radio service.

This innovative device also provides instant access to corporate and personal email through Nextel’s email application. It also features the capacity to synchronize calendars and contacts with Microsoft Exchange, Gmail™, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail.

Motorola and Nextel’s new i940 features Contactos Nextel; this innovative application synchronizes information from address books as well as from various social networks. Nextel subscribers are now able to connect with each other, make calls, send text messages, upload photos and interact with social networks all through one easy-to-use interface.

The new Motorola i940 comes with preloaded applications to access social networks such as Facebook® and Twitter®, and provides access to the Google Play™ which features more than 450,000 applications. The unit is also equipped with a built-in 5-megapixel camera complete with video recording, autofocus and flash. The phone also includes a 2 GB Micro SD memory card, expandable to 32GB. It also features a multimedia player, Bluetooth®, and Opera Mini™ Internet browser, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Nextel currently has more than 1.5 million subscribers in Argentina, and has been in the market since 1998.
