Motorola Mobility Empowers the History of Modern TV and Internet Services at Jornadas Internacionales 2012
At the XXII Edition of Jornadas Internacionales 2012, Motorola Mobility will be showcasing how it is driving the future of television with home solutions designed to support the network evolution, create unique experiences, optimize service management and expand the home ecosystem. Some of the demonstrations by Motorola will include the 'TV Beyond TV' concept with software developments such as DreamGallery from the Motorola Medios suite and optimization of Motorola's ecosystem of renowned set-top-boxes.
"This year, we continue strengthening our leadership with Latin American operators and also bringing participants the latest in TV innovations, including next-generation user experiences, with CMTS infrastructure solutions for high-speed Internet access in DOCSIS 3.0 with IPv6 support, and the latest in Digital Video and HFC solutions", said Luciano Lazzari, Sales Manager, Home Division, Motorola Mobility. "The way of watching television anywhere and anytime has evolved and users now enjoy and discover new experiences through a wide range of devices, both at home and on the go. These services can create a market differentiator for cable companies to increase the level of loyalty within their subscriber base.”
Multi-Screen: Beyond the TV
The Internet is changing the way we watch television. Television is no longer a one-way activity, but an interactive, community-driven experience. And this experience has expanded far beyond the television set. A recent Motorola study1 has discovered that more than 69% of people watch TV in a device different from traditional TV. This gives an intelligent and efficient way to enjoy a personalized TV experience through your smartphone, PC or tablet
- DreamGallery from Motorola – DreamGallery is the cloud-based video navigation software that helps create a modern user interface to explore and discover sports, movies and your favorite shows on the TV screen. The user will experience next-generation TV that’s as personalized, dynamic and rich as the Internet.
Now, service providers can offer an on-screen interface that can be customized to each subscriber and be easily updated on-the-fly to include new services, features and applications. DreamGallery allows these providers to deliver the first consistent TV Everywhere experience across multiple screens, as the HTLM5-based DreamGallery can be used on different platforms such as Android, Microsoft Windows, and Apple iOS via a browser.
- SecureMedia® - Winner of the 2012 IP&TV Industry Award for "Best Rights and Asset Management Solution" Video Content Protection and 2012 InfoVision Award for "Asia Broadband Innovation of the Year". Service providers face a matrix of different adaptive streaming formats, security technologies and video playback applications to reach a wider range of consumer devices. SecureMedia® Advanced Content Protection ensures that secure media is sent only to the devices for which it is intended to which has become much more challenging in the open and multi-screen world.
Motorola’s SecureMedia Encryptonite ONE™ HLS+ streamlines the entire content processing and delivery process for multi-screen applications – while ensuring the protection of digital rights and the security of the content streams. This robust system complies with the latest Hollywood studio secure-delivery specifications for multi-screen applications.

The DCX3510-M supports Motorola’s latest software enhancements for processing 3D video and graphics in the set-top prior to being delivered to a 3D-compatible television for an exceptional high-quality 3D TV viewing experience.
- HD-DTA - The Motorola High Definition Digital Terminal Adapter (HD-DTA) is a small, cost-effective device that helps service providers deliver HD content to their basic subscribers. It is a one-way device that converts an operator’s digital signal for subscribers to view HD content with a cost-effective set-top box.
The Motorola HD-DTA is a small, sleek set-top that delivers HD content to additional outlets in the house cost effectively. Motorola Presents the Future of the IP Connected Home at IBC2012
New Medios Multi-Screen Software, Set-Top Devices, IP Network Technology, and HEVC Advanced Video Compression On-Display — Hall 1, Stand D31
For nearly 70 years, Motorola Mobility has pioneered the future of the connected home – from digital TV to the first wireless cable modem to modern home automation services. At IBC2012,that tradition continues by combining today’s consumer insights with smarter technology to prepare service providers for tomorrow’s IP connected home.
“We’ve been ahead of the curve with many ‘world’s firsts’ in the digital home,” said Steve McCaffrey, EMEA General Manager, Motorola Mobility Home. “As the market continues to evolve and consumers adopt new ways of consuming content, we’re stepping up once more to lead the next digital revolution. At IBC2012, we’re showcasing the technology that will drive the future of TV and the smart, simple connected home.”
New Set-Top Technology
Motorola is launching new IP and cable set-top technology designed to meet consumer demand for multi-screen, over-the-top (OTT) and time shift TV, while reducing energy use and maintenance.
The new IPTV set-tops build on the global success of the KreaTV application platform, an open system that ensures flexibility in deployment as well as smooth systems integration. Each supports high-quality IPTV services such as HD broadcast, time shift, on-demand, OTT, and interactive applications.
http://mediacenter.motorola.com/Press-Releases/Motorola-Mobility-Licenses-Comcast-Software-to-Expedite-Next-Gen-Video-Services-Delivery-3b87.aspx
In addition, new Microsoft® Mediaroom® supported set-tops offer better choice, and energy efficiency with new SoC (System on a Chip). Elsewhere on the Motorola Stand (Hall 1, D31), cable operators can expect to see new hybrid and HD set-tops that offer DVR capabilities and increased choice for the cost-conscious.
Motorola is also showcasing how the set-top is evolving… getting smarter and more connected, as the number of connected devices is predicted to increase to +24 billion by 2020. Motorola’s video gateways mark the set-top’s evolution into the Entertainment Hub of the Living Room – morphing into the center of the IP connected home and connecting the consumer’s content universe. The future of the set-top is just one example of how Motorola is driving the evolution of TV and a smart, simple connected home through innovative hardware and software technologies.
Others include:
HEVC – The New Video Standard
Motorola Mobility will be demonstrating the revolutionary HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) video compression technology, which will transform the viewing experience across multiple platforms. For providers looking to stake a claim in the True Entertainment Everywhere landscape, HEVC represents a major breakthrough in the way video delivery can be managed and improved. Motorola Mobility’s advanced scientists and engineers are leveraging HEVC to develop a standards-based wireless and multi-screen solution for a diverse base of service providers worldwide.
Motorola Mobility showcased the first HEVC demonstration to global service providers in May 2012.
HEVC video compression technology reduces bandwidth by 50 percent in comparison to MPEG4 AVC/H.264 – while still delivering similar video quality. HEVC provides stunning video resolution in the home and makes HD video over wireless links (Wi-Fi or cellular) much more practical and attainable for service providers. Additionally, HEVC can be a significant factor in dramatically reducing storage costs for in-home and networked DVRs.
This revolutionary compression technology was jointly developed by ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) and ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG). Motorola’s HEVC demonstration builds on its heritage of network innovations and the importance of video compression in driving the evolution of TV. Motorola is part of the committee that developed the HEVC standard, and has been an active contributing member of MPEG2 (1993) and MPEG4 (2003) standards.
Visit Hall 1, Stand D31 to see a powerful side-by-side comparison of HEVC and MPEG4 AVC/H.264.
Medios Multi-Screen Software Suite
Motorola unveiled its early vision for converged media experiences two years ago when it launched the Medios Multi-Screen Software Suite. Since then, Motorola has continued innovating the Medios platform and will showcase its latest advancements at IBC2012, including Medios DreamGallery™, Medios Merchandiser, Medios VideoFlow CMS and Medios SecureMedia®.
Consumer demand for simple and continuous access to content will continue to explode, presenting a tremendous opportunity for service providers to extend and brand content beyond the traditional TV set. With a modular approach, Medios enables service providers to develop multi-screen offerings faster, differentiate and brand the experience, and monetize an infinite array of content—ultimately enabling consumers to view their content on any device, anytime, anywhere.
Medios continues to attract top-tier customers, due to its flexibility, open approach and industry-leading advanced video security for multi-devices. In June, Bouygues Telecom deployed Medios Merchandiser and this month, Motorola disclosed a key customer win with Verizon for Medios, and plans to announce more, on a global front, in the months ahead.
· Medios DreamGallery™ – HTML5 & Home Cloud Technology. DreamGallery is to TV what search and discovery was to the Web. Discover next-generation TV that’s as personalized, dynamic and rich as the Internet. Using DreamGallery’s unique Portal Server and Software Development Kit (SDK), Service providers can offer an on-screen interface that can be customized to each subscriber and updated on-the-fly to include new services, features and applications. DreamGallery will also allow them to deliver the first consistent TV Everywhere experience across multiple screens.
· Medios Merchandiser – Medios Merchandiser enables personalised catalog marketing across multiple screens – including video, music games and applications - with an intelligent recommendation engine based on the user’s preferences and transaction history. With Medios Merchandiser, service providers now have a way to evolve multi-screen marketing and increase revenues.
· Medios VideoFlow CMS – Helps service providers manage and grow their on-demand catalog to include music, games, Web content and enhanced TV applications. Medios VideoFlow CMS is the latest-generation of the successful VideoFlow product and uses automated workflows and secure digital rights management to help service providers deliver these assets across multiple screens. It also addresses consumers’ demand for an infinite library of content.
· Medios SecureMedia® Encryptonite ONE™ HLS+ – A streamlined process for service providers to ingest, transcode and securely deliver live and on-demand content via standard HTTP methods and infrastructure to today’s smartphones, tablets, game consoles, and connected TVs and Blu-Ray players.. SecureMedia has added layers of its award-winning Encryptonite ONE™ digital rights management protection to the specified HLS encryption method to meet the stringent security requirements of Hollywood studios and major broadcasters for licensing and distribution of their premium content.
Managed Home Solutions
End-to-End Solutions for Connected Home Services. Motorola’s Managed Home Solutions – including the award-winning 4Home platform – provide a full-service suite of platform, network and cloud-based tools for enabling connected home services that help consumers save time, energy, and money via remote monitoring and control of their home.
High-Density Video Processing
Motorola continues advances in video processing technology that delivers the highest quality video, bandwidth efficiencies and dramatically improve deployment economics to European operators. At IBC2012, Motorola will be demonstrating how its high-density MPEG-4/AVC video processing empowers service providers to deliver the best video experience possible based on their network requirements.
Motorola’s latest video processing innovations that will be on display at the show include:
ST-6000 Series Transcoder – Motorola’s new ST-6000 series transcoder supports evolving network needs and headend requirements – while reducing overall costs – by delivering the highest-quality video per channel within a given bandwidth…or increasing the number of video channels in a given bandwidth with no loss of video quality. The ST-6000 offers flexible channel configurations for significant capital and operational savings and a highly simplified deployment model. With options to consolidate up to 12 channels of MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 onto a single 1RU platform, the ST-6000 provides an up to 80 percent reduction in power consumption and up to 90 percent savings in overall headend space requirements compared to single channel transcoding solutions.

With an incredibly thin and lightweight design, Motorola RAZR™ MAXX offers amazing features and a battery that lasts up to two days, significantly outpacing similar devices in the market. The new Motorola RAZR MAXX Android™ powered smartphone is now available in Chile through Movistar, allowing you to talk, send and receive text messages, watch videos and more… for much longer.
Still seriously thin at just 8.99mm, RAZR MAXX is built with a resistant KEVLAR® fiber and Corning® Gorilla® Glass that protects the hyper-vibrant 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display from scratches and scrapes. And every part of the Motorola RAZR MAXX is protected by a splashguard coating, which even extends to the electrical boards inside, ensuring a go anywhere, do everything attitude.
Motorola RAZR MAXX delivers up to two days of talk time so you won’t spend your day plugged into the wall1. Also, its 1GB RAM combined with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) will ensure you’re always entertained with this device. Additionally, its lightning-fast user interface and the power to multi-task like never before allows you to rock your playlists while checking email and breeze through photos, all with a fluid performance.
Smart Actions, the remarkably intelligent application exclusive to Motorola Mobility, pushes the limits even further by automating everyday tasks based on triggers like time of day, location, battery levels and more. It won’t be necessary to put your phone on silent in meetings, turn up the volume when you receive an important call or even maximize your last ounce of power by dimming the display and turning off power hungry services.
"Motorola RARZ MAXX allows consumers to enjoy the device intensively, without having to charge it each time. Moreover, the design of the device is still impeccable, which added to the premium level features, make this phone the object of desire of any smartphone user, and Movistar brings exclusively for its customers," said Javier Valenzuela, product manager, Movistar Chile.
“Since we re-imagined the iconic RAZR brand, the Motorola RAZR has amazed consumers across the globe by combining the pinnacle of design with mind-blowing power,” said Fernando Sanchez, general manager, Mobile Devices, Motorola Mobility Chile. “Motorola RAZR MAXX builds on those same principles, delivering an incredible battery life that is perfect for consumers who want to push their smartphone to the limits and banish the low battery beep to history.”
Motorola smartphones offer some of the industry’s most powerful enterprise features available, and Motorola RAZR MAXX is no exception, including government-grade encryption and productivity tools that rival the capabilities of desktop computers. Collaborate in real time with GoToMeeting® and create and edit files right on your phone with QuickOffice®.

Verizon Selects Motorola Medios Content Security to Protect Entertainment Everywhere Experiences on FiOS Flex View
Motorola continues its advanced content protection of Verizon’s FiOS Flex View with its Hollywood-approved, SecureMedia® multi-device streaming technology
The rapid adoption of connected devices means consumers expect to get their entertainment everywhere – even premium content. The challenge? Service providers must be able to deliver this content on a growing number of devices, while meeting studios’ and content providers’ rigorous standards for content protection and security.
Verizon has selected Motorola Mobility as a key DRM supplier to secure its FiOS Flex View multi-screen content service using the award-winning SecureMedia® Encryptonite ONE™ HLS+. Now, Verizon FiOS subscribers can use Flex View to enjoy their favorite network entertainment—including hit TV shows from NBC, WB and E!, plus thousands of Hollywood titles from all the major studios—streamed to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, Android devices, and select Samsung connected TVs.
Verizon’s Flex View lets FiOS customers buy or rent more than 25,000 on-demand titles, including movies and TV shows, and watch them on their TV, PC and mobile device. SecureMedia® Encryptonite ONE™ HLS+ helps protect Flex View on-demand content, with its standards-based, studio-approved security solution.
Security is a mounting concern for service providers addressing the explosion in multi-screen media consumption. A 2011 Motorola study found that nearly 70% of global respondents were watching TV on other devices, including smartphones, which in the US experienced a five-fold increase in TV viewing over the previous year.
“Now, more than ever, content protection is absolutely necessary to deliver today’s entertainment to multiple screens,” said Peter Burke, Vice President of Product Management, Converged Solutions, Motorola Mobility. “Our Medios portfolio is dedicated to helping our service provider partners like Verizon meet consumer demand for multi-screen experiences. SecureMedia® Encryptonite ONE™ HLS+ is a key component of that portfolio, as the leading solution widely available today that has been internationally approved by Hollywood studios.”
Motorola’s SecureMedia Encryptonite ONE™ HLS+ provides a streamlined process for service providers to ingest, transcode and securely deliver live and on-demand content via standard HTTP methods and infrastructure. This flexible, scalable solution lets Verizon offer its subscribers anytime, anywhere access to secure, premium entertainment on multiple devices
“We’re thrilled to offer our FiOS TV customers the best in film and TV, at the highest quality, streamed with Flex View,” said Maitreyi Krishnaswamy, Director of Consumer Video Services for Verizon. “With Motorola SecureMedia® we can continue to expand our delivery of premium on demand content to multiple screens, safely and securely, so our subscribers can continue to enjoy entertainment everywhere.”
About Motorola Medios SecureMedia Encryptonite ONE HLS+:
· It is the adaptive streaming and content security component in the award-winning Motorola Medios multi-screen service management software suite
· Internationally approved by all Hollywood studios and network broadcasters
· Supports a wide range of devices and platforms, including Android smartphones and tablets, Apple iPad®/iPhone®/ iPod® Touch devices (iOS), PC and Mac (OS X), game consoles, Internet-connected TVs from Samsung and others, Blu-ray Disc™ players, and today’s popular eReaders
· Leverages the rapid adoption of Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol to help service providers rapidly and effectively extend secure linear and on-demand content delivery to connected devices beyond the service provider’s managed network and the subscriber’s home
· Enables more rapid deployment of premium over-the-top (OTT) services while simultaneously savings costs on operational expenditures
· Recently won the 2012 IP&TV Industry Award for "Best Rights and Asset Management Solution Video Content Protection and the 2012 InfoVision Award for "Asia Broadband Innovation of the Year.

Motorola Mobility Takes Screen Size and Battery Life to the Edge with Three New Smartphone Additions to RAZR™ Family
More screen. More battery life. More compact. More colors. And the best of Google packed inside. Introducing the new RAZR™ M, RAZR™ HD and DROID RAZR™ MAXX™ HD.
Speed, power, design and the best Android™ experiences around. Motorola Mobility is delivering all that and more with three new additions to its RAZR™ smartphone family: Motorola RAZR M, the full screen phone; the nonstop all-day entertainer Motorola RAZR HD; and the unmatched, live-forever battery of DROID RAZR MAXX HD by Motorola. All three Android-powered smartphones are built with top-of-the-line materials, are small in size, big on battery life and packed to the gills with the best experiences Google has to offer.
Pushing Screen Space to the Edge
Motorola RAZR M packs a big screen into a phone that fits in the palm of your hand. The Super AMOLED Advanced 4.3-inch display spans from edge-to-edge. The border you typically find on smartphones is virtually, in a word, gone. Even though it’s smaller in size, you still get 40 percent more screen than the leading competitor*. You can type emails and texts easily with a wider keyboard, watch YouTube™ videos and movies on a wider screen and browse the Web with Chrome™ for Android without squinting. All on a long-lasting battery that is 40 percent more powerful than the competition*.
Motorola RAZR M is also easy to use. It comes with interactive, swipe-by-swipe tutorials that walk you through the setup and help customize your phone to your needs – no instruction manual required. While RAZR M already has a long-life battery, when you set up the SMARTACTIONS™ battery saving rules too, your phone settings will automatically adjust to squeeze even more from every charge.
Available in sleek black or stand out white, the Motorola RAZR M will be coming soon to consumers in several Asia Pacific countries. For those in the US, it’s coming to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network as DROID RAZR M by Motorola for the unbelievable price for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. All that power, speed and edge-to-edge beauty at a great price. No catch.
Go. All. Day.
The new Motorola RAZR HD provides long-lasting battery performance for nonstop high definition entertainment. Its 4.7-inch HD display is the most compact smartphone in its class, designed for watching up to 10 hours of movies and TV shows or 6 hours of surfing the Web. You get the same sharp clarity as your HDTV, and beat the competition* with 85 percent greater color saturation and 50 percent more pixels per inch.
It’s not all about looks though. If you feel like hitting the road, you can drive with confidence knowing you’ll get up to 6 hours of voice-guided turn by turn GPS navigation all on a single charge. No matter where the day (or night) takes you, Motorola RAZR HD will keep up with 24 hours of battery performance.
Available in sleek black or stand out white, the Motorola RAZR HD will be coming soon to consumers in various countries throughout Asia Pacific, Europe, North America and Latin America. In the US, it will be available before the holidays on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network as DROID RAZR HD by Motorola. We’ll provide more details on pricing and availability soon.

We’re talking 32 hours of performance1 with the longest-lasting LTE smartphone1. You can literally get through an entire Hollywood trilogy with 13 hours of straight video playback, up to 10 hours of YouTube HD content or surf the day away with up to 8 hours of web browsing.
