Taiwan-based ODM handset maker Compal Communications has secured orders for Windows Mobile-based smartphones from LG Electronics (LGE), according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
The new orders make LGE the fifth smartphone clients for Compal, in addition to Hewlett-Packard (HP), Motorola, Palm and Acer, the paper indicated. However, since Compal has been paying more attention to the development of smartphones, LGE has suspended its plans to outsource part of its production of low-cost handsets to Compal, the paper added.
